Historic neighborhoods focus of cleanup day

Muskogee Neighborhood Alliance is sponsoring a neighborhood cleanup day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The effort will focus on the historic neighborhoods of Kendall Place, Founders’ Place, Capital Place, Market Place and the Y District on the west side.

Three free trash containers will be placed in the area. Two of the containers are being provided by Yaffe Iron & Metal. A third container is being sponsored by A More Beautiful Muskogee. The containers will be at the Severs Home at 702 N. Ninth St., the old Children’s Clinic at 16th and Emporia streets, and the old McIntosh Nursing Home at 2102 Martin Luther King St.

Neighborhood residents are encouraged to use this opportunity to clear yard debris and household trash too large for regular city pickup. The Alliance is encouraging families, churches and other groups to look beyond their yard and also clean up throughout these historic districts.

Information: (918) 682-0312.
