Tahlequah police are seeking a 71-year-old man who they allege molested three juveniles several times since 2007.
The man, Roxie Wagers of Tahlequah, has not been apprehended.
Wagers is charged with nine counts of lewd molestation and one count of attempted solicitation of a minor for indecent exposure, according to court documents.
Sex Crimes Investigator Thomas Donnell, who has been reviewing the allegations for months, said parents of one of the juveniles recorded a phone conversation with Wagers.
And in those recordings, Wagers admits he has a problem, the investigator said.
“He doesn’t come right out and say he did it,” Donnell said. “He says he has a problem and needs help and if they wouldn’t turn him in he will get help.”
Donnell said police are seeking the public’s help in finding Wagers. Rumors are circulating that he’s left the country, moved to another state or is living nearby.
“We’ve heard he’s in Tulsa,” Donnell said. “We heard Oregon, and people are saying he moved to Canada, but we don’t know what, if any, of that is true.”
Donnell said, ideally, Wagers will get an attorney and turn himself in, but that hasn’t happened.
He is accused of exposing his genitals to two juvenile females as well. All of the juveniles were younger than 16, according to the affidavit. One juvenile was 9 during the time of the alleged molestation.
Anyone with information on Wagers’ whereabouts should call the Tahlequah Police Department, (918) 456-8801, and any leads will be pursued.
Lewd molestation carries a sentence of three to 20 years for each conviction. Attempted solicitation carries a sentence of at least 25 years.
