Friday is the last day to apply for voter registration to be eligible to vote in the Fort Gibson, Braggs, Hilldale, Haskell and Midway school districts’ annual elections Feb. 12, Muskogee County Election Board Secretary Kelly Beach said.
Oklahoma residents who are U.S. citizens and are 18 or older may apply to become registered voters, Beach said.
Those who have never registered to vote or who are not registered in the county of their residence may apply by filling out and mailing an Oklahoma voter registration application. Registered voters who need to change their registration information may use the same form.
All applications must be postmarked by midnight Friday in order to be processed and registered in time for the Feb. 12 elections. Applications postmarked after then will be processed but will not be approved until after Feb. 12.
Beach said county election officials respond in writing to every applicant for voter registration. The response is either a voter identification card or a letter that explains why the application for voter registration was not approved.
Beach said that any person who submits a voter registration application and does not receive a response within 30 days should notify the county election office.
Voter registration applications are available at the Muskogee County Election Board, 400 W. Broadway St., in Room 120 and at most post offices, tag agencies and public libraries in the county. Applications are also available at www.elections.ok.gov.
