Charges anticipated in Walgreens robbery attempt

Suspect arrested at scene

— A man who was arrested for allegedly attempting to rob a Muskogee store is expected to be charged with the crime today.

Wesley Colt Dutton, 23, was arrested Saturday night inside the Walgreens at 100 N. 32nd St. He allegedly entered the store, told employees he had explosives and demanded medication.

Police were summoned about 8:30 p.m. A store employee told officers that Dutton had entered the store and instructed a manager to lock the front door.

Dutton then forced the manager into a back room, police said.

Lt. Bobby Lee said Dutton was in that room with the manager when police arrived.

Officer Rickie Kubiak entered through the open door and found Dutton.

Dutton was arrested on complaints of:

• First-degree robbery.

• Kidnapping.

• Sexual battery.

Dutton was ordered held on $100,000 bond Monday. Muskogee County District Attorney Larry Moore said he anticipated charges would be filed this afternoon.

Online court records list Dutton with an address in Bethany, although he was charged with two felonies in Muskogee County last year.

Dutton pleaded guilty July 27 to:

• Altering/forging written instrument.

• Larceny from the house.

• Domestic assault and battery by strangulation.

Dutton received a 10-year deferred sentence on the first two counts and a three-year deferred sentence on the third charge.
