City man charged in robbery attempt

A Muskogee man was charged Tuesday for allegedly attempting to rob an area store.

Wesley Colt Dutton, 23, was arrested Friday at Walgreens at 100 N. 32nd St. He had allegedly entered the store and forced an employee to lock the front door. He then took the employee to a back room, where he was found and arrested by Muskogee police.

Dutton was charged with attempted first-degree robbery and sexual battery.

Court documents state Dutton told the employee he wanted medication and threatened to use explosives if the employee resisted. Police said Monday they found no explosives when they arrested Dutton.

Dutton allegedly touched the employee in the “groin area,” during the encounter.

Dutton is jailed at the Muskogee County/City Detention Center on $100,000 bond.
