A Muskogee woman was charged Thursday with nine misdemeanors after allegedly attempting to elude Muskogee police.
Shatara Shaunte’ Smith, 29, was arrested Tuesday after leaving the scene of a traffic stop and attempting to elude Officer James Hamlin, according to court documents.
Smith is accused of throwing a loaded firearm out of the vehicle during the chase.
She was charged with:
• Six counts of failure to use a child restraint system.
• Transporting loaded firearm in motor vehicle.
• Eluding/attempting to elude police officer.
Court documents allege she had six juveniles in the vehicle at the time of the chase.
One child was less than 4 months old, two were less than 6 years old, and three children were between the ages of 6 and 13 years old.
Smith is set to return to court at 1:30 p.m. June 19 for a disposition docket.
