MHS senior wins district competition

Muskogee High School senior Ashley Stewart placed first in the Rotary District 6110 Speech contest.

She had won a local contest and became Muskogee Rotary’s entry at the district level. The top five contestants from the district, which includes 81 clubs in four states, delivered their speeches at an April 27 meeting.

Ashley’s speech, Setting the Foundation for a Brighter Future, presented the Rotary 4-Way test in the context of parenting. She received $1,000 for her educational goals, which includes studying music education.

“Ashley represents the best of aspiring, young professionals,” said Joel Cousins, president-elect of the local club. “Muskogee Rotary is proud to have sponsored her and looks forward to her future accomplishments.”
