Haskell firefighters douse two residential fires

A burned-out house stands on the corner of Holly and Broadway streets in Haskell. The fire, which started about 3 a.m. Friday, was the second in two days for the Haskell Volunteer Fire Department, said Fire Chief Caleb Brewer. Brewer said the house was an unoccupied rent house, and the cause of the fire is unknown. The department also responded to a mobile home fire about 8 p.m. Thursday, he said. That fire was contained to the home’s kitchen and utility area. The cause of the fire also remains under investigation, Brewer said. No injuries were reported at either fire.
