Groundbreaking slated for new MLT

Muskogee Little Theatre’s Board of Directors and Capital Campaign Committees will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at the site where MLT’s new facility will be built.

The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Third and Columbus streets.

MLT kicked off its capital campaign in October after receiving a $5.5 million challenge grant from the City of Muskogee Foundation. The challenge grant required MLT to raise the first $1 million of their total project budget of $6.5 million.

MLT’s fundraising efforts were reached a year ahead of schedule.

MLT’s new facility will be a two-story, 14,500-square-feet theatre, which includes a 250-seat main-stage auditorium, a Black Box Theatre (a second stage for Youth theatre), Senior theatre for small, intimate productions, a 2,000-square-foot lobby/public event space, a large multipurpose classroom, a Scene Shop, and many new theatrical, public and educational spaces.
