— Warner High School senior William Gardner has won a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the scholarship winners last week.

The 2,500 Merit Scholars were chosen from more than 15,000 finalists in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.

The winners were judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills and potential for success in rigorous college studies. The number of winners in each state is proportional to the state’s percentage of graduating high school seniors.
