The United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians will have a spring break culture camp from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 18-22 at the UKB John Hair Cultural Center and Museum. The free camp is for kids from kindergarten through ninth grade. Lunch and snacks will be provided daily.
Participants will learn about the Keetoowah Cherokee language, storytelling, stickball, basket weaving, cornhusk dolls, blowguns, shell shaking, making tear dresses and leading songs. They will get to participate in stickball games, a scavenger hunt and a stomp dance. Other activities on the schedule include a Zoo Safari and snake education.
