A Muskogee woman was shot several times early this morning in the 1600 block of South Fourth Street.
Muskogee Police Department Lt. Bobby Lee said the woman, whose name is not being released by police, had "several gunshot wounds" to the torso area. She was shot some time around midnight, according to police. The woman was transported to EASTAR Health System, according to Lee. Muskogee County Emergency Medical Service spokeswoman Rebecca Williamson said they had not transferred anyone with a traumatic injury from EASTAR to a Tulsa hospital.
No arrests have been made, Lee said, though investigators are in the early process of gathering information.
Lee said the victim, another adult and four children were in the residence at the time of the shooting. Police were told an unknown suspect knocked on the door, then began shooting through the door as the woman was opening it.
Anyone with information about the shooting is being asked to call Muskogee Crime Stoppers at (918) 682-2677 or the Muskogee Police Department's Investigations Division at (918) 683-8000.
