Woodall Robotics program gets grant

The Woodall Robotics program received a $1,000 FIRST Robotics grant from the Oklahoma State Department of Education.

The competitive grant helps support public school student participation in the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology Robotics Programs (FIRST). FIRST is a nonprofit organization founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen, best known as the inventor of the Segway.

The Oklahoma State Department of Education provides grants to facilitate recent start-up and existing team opportunities. In the robotics program, Woodall students gain hands-on experience and learning through building, programming, and problem solving with LEGO robots and soon plan to add VEX robots. The Woodall Robotics team also plans to begin entering competitions soon.
