Muskogee City Council – at a glance 09.24.13

During its regular meeting Monday, the Muskogee City Council took the following action:



• Claims for all city departments Sept. 2-13.

• Motion to table public hearings regarding request to close Branson Park, Manitou and Anthony Streets located in Hidden Valley subdivision to the following meetings: Planning Commission, Oct. 7; Public Works Committee, Oct. 8; and City Council meeting, Oct. 14.

• Receipt of donated funds in the amount of $2,075 for the month of August for the city’s animal shelter sponsorship program.


• Approved an ordinance annexing the property located on West 23rd Street South into the Muskogee city limits.

• Approved an ordinance to close the alley lying adjacent to Lots 1 through 8 and Lots 9 through 16, in Block 4, of Browns Addition.

• Approved an ordinance to close a portion of Mill Street of approximately 1,012 feet long to accommodate a planned expansion of James Hodge Ford.  

• Took no action regarding a resolution approving the incurrence of indebtedness by the Muskogee Municipal Authority issuing sales tax revenue note series 2013 for the purpose of funding to flood control projects.

 • Took no action regarding a resolution approving the execution of a ground lease agreement between Hilldale Public Schools and the Muskogee Industrial Trust and a lease-purchase agreement.

• Approved an acquisition plan for the purchase of certain parcels of real property owned by the Muskogee County Board of Commissioners located at the northwest, southeast and northeast corners of the U.S. 69 and Shawnee Bypass intersection.

• Approved a resolution authorizing and directing the city attorney to assist Robert Martinez in filing a friendly suit in Muskogee County District Court and confess judgment in amount of $1,288.48 for motor vehicle damages.

• Approved a cooperative agreement between the city of Muskogee and Muskogee County Public Transit Authority for fiscal year 2014 in the amount of $166,000.

• Approved a motion to reject all proposals received for the position of coordinator for the Muskogee Wellness Initiative and authorize the resolicitation of proposals.

• Approved a settlement in the amount of $6,217.75 for a worker’s compensation claim filed by Kevin Warlick.
