Duncan to retire as president of Bacone

The Rev. Dr. Robert J. Duncan, Jr. will retire as president of Bacone College effective Dec. 31, the college announced Friday evening.

Dr. Duncan is on family medical leave, according to a media release.

Franklin K. Willis was named interim president by the Bacone College Board of Trustees.

The board expressed confidence in Willis’ abilities and qualifications, the release stated.

A search for a permanent replacement is expected to take several months.

Bacone College recognizes the many contributions made to the college by Dr. Duncan during his presidency, the release stated. “Bacone College also extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. Duncan and his wife, Cheryl Duncan, for their commitment to the success of the college and wishes all the best for them in the future,” the release stated.
