U.S. Rep. Markwayne Mullin has announced his District 2 Summer Reading Program.
Children completing first through fifth grade are eligible to participate in the program, which runs from June 10 to July 31. Working in partnership with public libraries in the district, Mullin said he hopes to challenge children to read as many books as they can this summer.
“We are excited to launch this reading program, and I encourage every eligible student to participate because reading is one of the best things you can do in your spare time and the benefits will be lifelong,” he said.
Program winners will be announced and prizes awarded during August.
Under the program, books must be checked out from a public library and read during the program dates. Books checked out that are read to children by their parents or during a storytime can count on a child’s program log.
Librarians must keep all reading logs at the libraries and give them to Mullin’s office representatives on July 31.
