Michigan man held on $100K bond in sex case

Adams accused of rape, sodomy with area teen girl

A Michigan man will return to court May 21 after being ordered held on $100,000 bond on rape charges.

Christopher Dale Adams, 27, is accused of traveling thousands of miles to have sex with a teenage girl.

Adams is charged with:  

• Four counts of first-degree rape.

• Sodomy.

Court documents state Adams allegedly had sex with the girl four times, twice in January and twice in March. Receipts gathered by authorities show that Adams stayed at a Wagoner hotel in October, 2012, and the Oklahoma State Parks Lodge two times in January and two times in March.

Authorities first came into contact with Adams when Sequoyah State Park rangers pulled his vehicle over, according to the affidavit. The teenager was in the vehicle with Adams, and though they were allowed to leave, rangers were suspicious because they were “unable to establish any reason the two were together.”

Adams was ticketed for having no security verification.

“Each of the receipts are in the name of the suspect (Adams) or (the teenager’s adoptive mother,” the affidavit states. The teenager confirmed sexual intercourse took place on each date,  according to the affidavit.

The girl’s mother told investigators that she paid for Adams “to come to Oklahoma and to paying for the motel rooms on numerous occasions.”

Adams was arrested in April after the girl’s mother told investigators she had given him $150 to travel here and rented a hotel room for him. Authorities picked him up when he arrived at the hotel.

The girl’s mother could potentially face charges, though prosecutors have said it would take time for that decision to be made.
