EMS offers membership program

By Anita Reding

— Muskogee County Emergency Medical Service personnel realize people can’t always plan when they are going to need an ambulance.

That’s why Muskogee County EMS offers a membership program — to help residents with unexpected expenses. The membership helps with out-of-pocket expenses and co-pays for insurance, said Rebecca Williamson, compliance officer.

“It’s very beneficial for families that have an unexpected need for an ambulance,” Williamson said.

The membership program is available for Muskogee County residents and their families. For $50, the member and all qualified household members can be covered for one year ending March 31, 2015.

The membership can cover out-of-pocket expenses for medically necessary emergency ambulance service not covered in full by insurance. Selected non-emergency transports also may be covered.

Muskogee County EMS has offered the membership program since 1998. Program membership averages approximately 300 each year, Williamson said.

One membership can include the applicant and immediate family members living at the same address, but a spouse being cared for in a nursing home also can be covered under the applicant’s membership. A disabled adult child living at the same address may also be covered if under the legal guardianship of the applicant.

Limitations for the membership apply, and Williamson encourages those interested to review the membership brochure for complete details.
