Checotah Lions Club to sell ribs

Members of the Checotah Lions Club have begun selling tickets for full slabs of smoked ribs to raise money for scholarships for Checotah High School seniors.

The smoked ribs are $20 per slab.

Lions will be at the Nichols Super Saver parking lot in Checotah with their smoker cooking and keeping ribs hot from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 9 for customers to pick up their orders.

Checotah Lions call the event the “Annual Mother's Day Fundraiser.”

Last year, the Lions sold out of ribs early and decided this year there will be a few additional ribs to cook.

However, Mitch Foreman, head chef, says rib sales other than those who purchased tickets in advance will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Foreman cautions customers not to gamble on whether there will be enough and encourages everyone to buy tickets in advance.

For information or to buy tickets: Robert Jennings, (918) 473-2237.

Tickets also may be purchased from any Checotah Lions Club member.
