Hilldale Middle School has been named a 2013 Promising Practice for their Peer Mediation and Living History Programs by the Character Education Partnership, a media release states.
Peer mediation teaches listening, communication skills and gives students opportunities to practice positive leadership skills. Peer mediators are students who, with adult guidance, mediate disputes between peers.
In Living History, students research and dress up in attire appropriate for their famous person and become animated: acting, demonstrating and role-playing as the positive character in history.
Living History is an annual event during parent-teacher conferences for all students in the sixth grade.
