Eufaula man dies in collision with tree

— A Eufaula man died Thursday after the truck he was driving hit a tree in McIntosh County, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.

Russell Lanham, 65, died after the 2003 Toyota pickup he was driving crashed on Stidham Road about six miles west of Eufaula.

Lanham was driving northbound on the two-lane road. The pickup left the road at about 6 p.m., hit a tree, rolled and landed on the passenger side, the OHP report stated.

Lanham was ejected about 30 feet from the truck. He died at the scene, the report stated.

Seatbelts were not in use and airbags were equipped but did not deploy.

The report stated Lanham was in “apparently normal” condition when he had been driving.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
