P.M. UPDATE: Police arrest suspect in Tuesday morning shooting

Police arrested a suspect in a late-morning shooting that sent a Muskogee man to the hospital.

The shooting, which occurred in northwest Muskogee at the intersection of North Seventh and Market streets, was reported at about 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Muskogee Police Cpl. Michael Mahan said police also are interviewing a second person who was taken into custody as a material witness.

Mahan said the 18-year-old victim, whose identity was unavailable early Tuesday afternoon, was in fair but stable condition and being treated at EASTAR Health System.

The Early Childhood Center preschool at Ninth and Emporia streets, which was locked down after police received the call, was reopened at about noon.
