City man arrested after bank robbery

Police arrested a Muskogee man within minutes of a robbery at Firstar Bank near downtown Muskogee.

Cpl. Michael Mahan said Kelly Rewe, 52, walked into the bank just before 1 p.m. Friday and demanded money from a teller.

“He approached her and said, ‘This is a robbery,’ and demanded money,” Mahan said. “She complied. He took the money and exited the bank with an excess of $2,000 and began to walk north.”

Officer Don Johnson and Reserve Officer Jeb Hagman arrested Rewe without incident about a block north of the bank. All the money was recovered, and witnesses at the bank “positively identified” Rewe as the alleged robber.

Mahan said Rewe branded no weapon during the robbery and no weapon was recovered upon his arrest. FBI agents reportedly said Rewe would be referred for prosecution in state court.
