City man to pay $9K in medical fees

A Muskogee man will pay more than $9,000 in medical fees to the man he’s accused of beating and robbing.

Markell Juanye Grass, 20, of Muskogee pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery charges in August. He and three others are accused of beating and robbing Jim Baskins, 77, of Muskogee, in December.

Grass did not appear in court, but his attorney signed the restitution document on his behalf, said Muskogee County Assistant District Attorney Tim King.

Grass is serving 25 years in prison, with all but the first 13 years suspended.

He is ordered to pay $9,164 to cover fees incurred when Baskins was in the emergency room, received ambulance rides and treatment at a Tulsa trauma unit.

The other three facing charges, 28-year-old Mikell Chapman Price, 20-year-old Robin Dane Hill, and 27-year-old Rodney Allen Bias, are expected to appear at a disposition docket at 9 a.m. Sept. 13.
