Second hearing set in sexual abuse case

A Muskogee man charged with two complaints of child sexual abuse will have a second preliminary hearing in November.

Lyle G. Sowers, 51, is accused of abusing two teenage girls between May 1, 2012, and Feb. 14, 2013.

Two juvenile girls testified Tuesday during a preliminary hearing that Sowers touched them inappropriately, said Assistant District Attorney Dan Medlock.

Sowers’ attorney asked for a second hearing so the defense can present testimony, Medlock said.

The next preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Nov. 27 in Special Judge Robin Adair’s courtroom.
