Motorcyclist hurt in three-vehicle crash

A motorcyclist was injured in McIntosh County after a three-vehicle collision Friday.

The collision occurred at about 12:45 p.m. about 4 miles north of Eufaula near U.S. 69, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.

Joseph Klonute, 22, of Stigler was riding his 2002 Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on Texanna Road.

Klonute failed to stop for traffic at a railroad crossing. His motorcycle collided with a 1996 Dodge pickup driven by James Carter, 53, of Wilburton. Klonute’s motorcycle then went into westbound traffic and collided head-on with a 2003 Jeep SUV driven by Karla Anderson, 47, of Fort Smith, Ark.

Both Carter and Anderson were wearing seatbelts and were not injured.

Klonute, who was wearing a helmet, sustained head, arm, leg and trunk injuries. He was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa.

His condition was unavailable, a hospital employee said.

The report stated the cause of the collision was human error.
