The Muskogee Board of Education at its regular meeting took the following actions:

• Heard public comments.

• Recognition of support staff members — Creek Elementary secretary Thea Speer and Wade Bennett of the district’s custodial department.

• Recognition of certified staff members — Cherokee Elementary special education teacher Tamara Kinsey and Muskogee High School history teacher Diane Walker.

• Recognition of Jimmie Johnson Foundation Grant recipients and speech and debate tournament winners.

• Board member Muriel Saunders praised MHS Teens for Christ members for serving at Golden Corral when she visited there. She said they are donating tips to the needy.


• Minutes of Nov. 13 and 26 meetings.

• Checks for November encumbrances and invoices:  20131595 to 20132134, $2,124,087.40; 1300088 to 1300099, $3,645.45; 1352884 to 1353803, $1,680,020.51.

• Approved temporary employment of Michelle Pitchford - Speech Pathologist Assistant - ECC; Melinda Chapman - Kindergarten - Pershing; Andrea Grisso - 3rd Grade - Pershing; Mark Colvin - 2nd Grade - Tony Goetz; Jessica VanVoast - Music - Tony Goetz; Paula Elsky - ACE Remediation English - MHS.
