$10K winning ticket still out there

Prize must be claimed at Chamber by Jan. 4

After the winning ticket in the Magic Holiday Giveaway was announced, people scrambled to read their numbers, some clutching fistfuls of tickets, others with them neatly laid out in rows.

Despite a packed Arrowhead Mall, Thursday’s winning ticket for $10,000 prize remained unclaimed.

At least two people got excited and thought they had a winning ticket, one man who shouted as he came across the food court and a woman who came to the front only to find her ticket was one number off.

She walked away wondering out loud if the person who was shopping in front of her at Walgreens on the west side has the winning ticket.

Darrell Hamby, owner of Hamby TV & Appliance, was this year’s Magic Holiday Giveaway committee chairman.

He helped hand out prizes for the Hot Ticket drawings before the big drawing began.

Hamby said the giveaway is important to Muskogee.

“The great thing is it promotes shopping in Muskogee,” he said. “Shopping in Tulsa doesn’t provide one fireman for our town, not one policeman or fill one pothole. Shopping here in Muskogee does.”

Hamby said between one million and nearly two million tickets are given away for the drawing each year.

Winners of the Hot Ticket drawings took away prizes such as $50 gift cards from Arrowhead Mall, a new recliner and Rascal Flatts concert tickets.

The winner of the Magic Holiday Giveaway grand prize drawing must bring the winning ticket to the Chamber of Commerce office, 310 W. Broadway, by noon Jan. 4, according to the chamber website.

If the first winning ticket number is not presented to chamber officials by the deadline, the next alternate who has been identified by that time will be declared the winner. The chamber office will be closed for the holidays on Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan 1.
