Women, kids gone a month

Family members of missing quartet left with questions

— It’s been almost a month since anyone has heard from Ciecie Oliver, her two children, Zach and Zoe, and Oliver’s mother, Gail McElmurry.

The disappearances have family members fearing the worst, hoping for the best and seeking any kind of answer about where their loved ones are.

“Maybe they just left,” said Angi Shook, a friend of Ciecie Oliver’s. “But ... that’s not like them. I mean, to go and not tell anyone that they’re OK, that doesn’t sound like them.”

McElmurry’s aunt, Madlyn McElmurry, reported her niece, 57, as a missing person Wednesday.

“No one has seen her in who knows how long,” she said. “Gail and Ciecie were best friends, but it is not like them to just, poof, be gone. Gail’s mom is about to have a nervous breakdown, she’s so worried. They both have friends that are just worried sick.

“I just pray that they’re OK.”

Oliver, 31, is described as 5 feet tall, 105 pounds, with blonde hair and hazel eyes.

Gail McElmurry is described as about 5 feet tall and thin.

Zach is described as 3 feet 6 inches tall, 48 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes.

Zoe is described as 3 feet 9 inches tall, 49 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Shook said she and Ciecie Oliver were planning in December for Oliver to visit her. Less than two weeks later, Oliver had vanished.

“I call her phone, and it just goes to voicemail,” Shook said. “I just keep hoping that she’ll pick up the phone and tell me she’s OK, but she never does.”

Muskogee Police Department Investigator James Poffel said the leads he’s looked at have fallen through, and although he’s received phone calls reporting that the family is fine and doesn’t want to be found, those calls have been unverified.

“So I guess we’re still in the same boat. They’re missing, and we still don’t have much information,” he said. “If they’re safe and really don’t want to be found, they need to go to a police station wherever they are and prove to them who they are and that they’re OK.”
