Tornado safety theme of kids’ poster contest

— Oklahoma students are invited to participate in the National Tornado Summit Poster Contest. The contest, sponsored by Oklahoma Farm Bureau, is an opportunity to encourage artistic expression and raise public awareness of severe weather safety. Winners will receive gift cards, and the first-place winners of each division will get cash for their school.

Contest participants will be divided as follows: Division I: kindergarten and first grade, Division II: second and third grades; and Division III: fourth, fifth and sixth grades. Students may use crayons, markers, pens, pencils and magazine pictures.

Posters should depict how individuals, families and communities prepare for tornadoes and severe weather. Submissions will be judged on originality, creativity, neatness, subjectivity and overall effect. Posters are available for download at www.tornadosummit.org by clicking on E-Tools.

All posters must be received by March 1. Posters can be dropped off at any Oklahoma Farm Bureau office or mailed to 706 N. Broadway Ave., Oklahoma City OK 73102 with attention to Poster Contest.
