High-heels fundraiser set this month

Money will go to domestic violence shelter

— A fundraiser is being planned to combat domestic violence.

Participants will be asked to Kick Up Your Heels on Feb. 14. This is an opportunity for men to educate the community about a very serious subject and to rally the community to take a stand against domestic violence. Men will be asked to put on their high heels and walk in a fight to end domestic violence.

Prizes will be awarded for Top Fundraising Individual, Top Fundraising Team, Largest Team Walking, along with many other awards, including best decorated shoe.

You can help by walking, sponsoring an individual or a group or just coming out to cheer them on. Local high school and college teams have been challenged to take a stand against domestic violence and raise money for the shelter.

The rally will be held in Arrowhead Mall at 501 N. Main St. The group will gather in the area in front of JCPenney.

There will be a minimum sponsorship of $10 to walk.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m. To pre-register, call WISH at (918) 682-7879.

This walk will raise money for WISH as they continue to help women, children and families break the cycle of domestic violence.  WISH is a non-profit organization. Donations are tax deductible.

Women In Safe Home (WISH) is a domestic violence shelter that serves Muskogee and McIntosh counties. WISH operates 24/7 and offers safety, shelter, advocacy, clothing, food, and social service referrals free of charge to women and their children.
