P.M. UPDATE: Bacone to take part in Museum Assessment Program

Bacone College has been selected to participate in the Museum Assessment Program, which will help its collection meet and exceed the highest professional standards of the museum field.

“The museum’s collection represents works by a broad representation of Native American tribal members who have served on the teaching staff or as students as well as those presently engaged or enrolled at Bacone College,” said Kimberlie Gilliland, executive director of development at Bacone. “We are very grateful to have been selected by the American Alliance of Museums to participate in Museum Assessment Program.”

The program is funded by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services. As part of the IMLS National Leadership program, MAP advances best practices and fosters improvement in museums. Museums use the assessment process to strengthen operations, build capacity, and enhance communication throughout the organization and in response to community needs.
