Published November 12, 2008 11:09 pm - Emergency management director resigns Muskogee County Emergency Management Director Eugene Blankenship has resigned that position, effective Nov. 21. Blankenship, who recently unsuccessfully campaigned for the state Representative District 14 seat, said he has accepted a position at Muskogee Regional Medical Center as safety officer. The position is a new one, created to deal with new federal regulations on disaster preparedness, Blankenship said. The county’s emergency management director’s job pays $36,840 per year, according to county records. Gene Wallace, District 1 county commissioner, said the vacancy will not be filled immediately. Blankenship has been with the county since April 2003.
