Published June 30, 2009 03:45 pm - Milwaukee Mile track faces uncertain future MILWAUKEE (AP) — The historic Milwaukee Mile racetrack faces an uncertain future with its promoters behind on payments due to NASCAR and the Indy Racing League. While track promoters have paid prize money to teams, they have not fully paid sanctioning fees owed to NASCAR and the IRL, according to reports in the Charlotte Observer and Indianapolis Star. Both leagues confirmed those reports to The Associated Press on Tuesday. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that promoters owed NASCAR nearly $1.9 million. A track spokesman said officials had no comment.
