Evelyn Faye Youngblood Wells passed from this life on May 1, 2008 at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Muskogee, OK at the age of 67. Evelyn was born on June 6, 1940 to Howard and Jewell Youngblood in Muskogee. She attended Frozen Rock Elementary School, Alice Robertson Jr. High, and graduated from Muskogee High School in 1958. Following high school she attended Bacone College and graduated in May 1961. She worked for the Veterans Administration in Muskogee for many years. She also worked for several years with the Muskogee Public Schools.
Evelyn loved the fellowship of Hyde Park Baptist Church and was a faithful member for many years. She sang in the choir and delighted the congregation with her lovely soprano voice. She also sang with a quartet that visited other churches. She later was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
She married Raymond Wells and was happily married for seven years until he preceded her in death. Evelyn loved music of all types, especially gospel music. She loved special visits with family and friends. In later years Evelyn was a member of Southeast Baptist Church. She loved her church family and Sunday School Hope Class. The weekly visits with Virgil Calvert of Southeast Baptist Church were very uplifting for her. She was always so proud when the church honored the widows with special dinners and gifts.
Those left to cherish very precious memories are Rosemary Scott of Denver, Colorado, Glenda Nickel of Park Hill, OK, Sue Todd, Helen Swon, Sherry Burke, Peggy Clairday, Pat Hardin, Mary Kirk, all of Muskogee, and Pauline Enos of Broken Arrow, OK, with numerous cousins, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 5, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in Lescher-Millsap Chapel with Pastor Monty Baggett officiating. Pallbearers are Dan Dunlap, Johnny Todd, Jim Todd, Kenny Jackson, Danny Nevitt and Derek Steele. Honorary Pallbearers; Virgil Calvert, Michael Kaiser.
