Funeral services for Cowanda Armstrong, 69, of Gore, OK, will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 5, 2008, at the Lighthouse Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Gore with Reverend Bobby Long and Reverend Leon McDowell officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Earl Emerson, Jr., Erick Stinnett, Clayton Wells, Aaron Emerson, Caleb McAninch and Steven Sumpter. Burial will be in the Gore Cemetery under the direction of Millsap Funeral Service of Webbers Falls.
Mrs. Armstrong was born February 8, 1939 near Porum, OK. The daughter of Albert and Jewell (Cosper) Holt and died Friday, May 2, 2008, at Gore, OK.
Mrs. Armstrong graduated from high school in Phoenix, AZ, and she married William O. Armstrong on April 12, 1963 at Tyler, Texas. She had been a resident of Gore for the past 27 years and was a member of the Lighthouse Tabernacle Pentecostal Church where her husband is the pastor. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Holt, a sister, Oleta Warren, and a daughter, Melanie Sue Kiggins.
Survivors include her husband, William O. Armstrong of the home, children: Pat and David Piercefield of Quapaw, Shirley and Malcolm Garrison of Berryville, AR, Marion and Earl Sr. Emerson of DeQueen, AR, Kim Wells and Jimmy Shanks of Webbers Falls, Cindy and Joe McAninch of Pine Bluff, AR, Tami and Glen Barnes of Gore; her mother, Jewell Holt of Eldon, MO; brother, Bill and Shirley Holt of Casa Grande, AZ; sister, Mary Ann and Bill McGarity of Eldon, MO; brother-in-law, Jay Warren; 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
