Louise Holloway

On Saturday, May 3, 2008, after living a life in service to her Lord and Savior, Louise Holloway, 86, of Fort Gibson answered the call to join Him for eternal life. She loved studying the Bible and lived her life according to its Word.
Louise was born October 3, 1921 in Slick, OK, one of seven children born to George W. & Tishie Lee (Walls) Hicks. She devoted most of her life to working with children in an educational environment and with those placed in the care of DHS. She was a lifelong student of the Bible and enjoyed teaching Bible studies. She was a charter member of South Ridge Baptist Church and recently attended Crescent Valley Baptist Church with her family. Louise loved people and enjoyed visiting and serving them any way possible. As an accomplished pianist, she frequently blessed residents in nursing homes. Louise loved her family and especially cherished the times spent with her grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil R. Holloway, her parents, brothers, Carlos Hicks and Cecil Hicks and her daughter-in-law, Cindy Holloway. She is survived by her children, Carol (David) Winn, V. Lynn Holloway, and Gaye Wheeler, all of Fort Gibson; her grandsons, Brian (Heather) Winn and Matthew Holloway; great grandchildren, Tyler Winn and Ross Winn; her sisters, Lucille Stubbs of Eufaula, and Kathryn (Virgil) Garrison of Katy, TX ; her brothers, George W. (Martha) Hicks, Jr. and Victor Ray (Jerrie) Hicks of Oklahoma City, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Louise Holloway at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Crescent Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Sam Dunn officiating. She will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery in Checotah with Grady Bivins, Lloyd Bivins, Rickey Holloway, Bruce Roberts, Darren Roberts and Rusty Kramer serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are J. T. Stubbs, Rayme Hilgendorf, Jerry Winn and Steve Reynolds.
The family has entrusted Bradley Family Funeral Service of Fort Gibson with the arrangements.
