Beulah Overmon

Beulah Overmon, 88 year old Checotah resident, passed from this life Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Muskogee, Oklahoma. Beulah was born on January 11, 1920 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Marion and Aniza “Mizie” Buckner Branson. She and her husband came to Checotah from Fame Bottom, Oklahoma in 1963. She was a member of Shady Grove Church since coming to Checotah, being very active in the church and playing the piano. She enjoyed being a housewife and mother, cooking and sewing. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lester “Broad” Overmon in June 1986, and seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis Overmon and his wife Sheila, and Wesley Overmon and his wife Terri, of Checotah; two daughters, Rita Lynch and her husband Curtis “Buck” of Bonner Springs, KS; and Lovella (Lou) Murray and her husband Loyde of Checotah; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and a host of other friends and relatives.
Funeral services for Beulah Overmon will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Checotah Church of God with Rev. Tim Whisenhunt, Rev. Claude Whisenhunt, Peggy Christian and Carol Martin officiating. Casket bearers will be her grandsons, Denney “Dink” Overmon, James Overmon, Bill Murray, Gary Baughman, Chuck Murray, Tyler Murray, Bo Overmon, Leon Murray and Joe Overmon. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
