Published May 15, 2008 09:58 pm - Elva Faye “Momma Faye” Hoover 1931 - 2008 Elva Faye Hoover, known to her family and friends as “Momma Faye”, of Checotah, passed from this life Tuesday, May 13,2008 at her home at the age of 77. She was born on March 9,1931 in Gainesville, Missouri to Everett and Flora Cochran Whisentant. She came to Checotah from Chandler, OK in 1988 to retire at the lake. She enjoyed working and keeping busy and especially loved flowers and working in her flower beds. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Marlene Robinson, four brothers, one granddaughter and one grandson. Survivors include her companion, Leon Elliott; one son, Lonnie Lorn Robinson of Chandler, OK; four daughters, Delaney Gabriel of California; Sharlene Williams of Norman, OK; Darlene Miller of Norman, OK; Carlene Dotson of Checotah, OK; two brothers, Junior Whisentant of Bixby, OK; and Charles Whisentant of Springfield, MO; 15 grandchildren 17 great-grandchildren and a host of other friends and relatives. Memorial services for Elva Faye Hoover will be held on Saturday, May 17,2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hampton Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Wendell Cox officiating. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a Alzheimer’s Association of your choice. Momma Faye was a loving mother, companion, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by all. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hampton Mortuary, Checotah, 918-473-6821.
