Archie Glenn Sumpter

Archie Glenn Sumpter was born March 25, 1934 in Oktaha, OK to Melvin Archie & Vinice (Hogan) Sumpter. He went to his rest, Tuesday, August 12, 2008.
Archie lived in this area all of his life, attending school through 8th grade in Muskogee. He was a long-time member of Muskogee Seventh Day Adventist Church. Archie gave extensively of both time and money to evangelism, Christian education and missions. He knew no attitude but that of “I Can”. He was an avid water skier and outdoorsman, exploring the mountains and lake of America from coast to coast and border to border. When he was at home, working on his farm brought him great joy insomuch that he rested from it only on the Sabbath. Most importantly, Archie knew that Jesus Christ was his Friend and Savior.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jean (Mills) Sumpter; daughter, Jeannie A. Broberg of Broken Arrow; daughter, Teresa L. Smith of Porter; four grandsons, Karl Broberg of Dallas, TX; Kirk Broberg of Highland, MO; Donovan Brantley of Loveland, CO; Trent Smith of Broken Arrow, and three great granddaughters, Amber, Savanah and Kaylee Broberg.
A celebration of the life of Archie Sumpter will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Ron Shelton officiating. Interment will follow in Brushy Mountain Cemetery with Karl Broberg, Kirk Broberg, Donovan Brantley, Trent Smith, Jr. Dixon and Robert Childers serving as pallbearers.
