Funeral services for Brenda Louise Girty, 54, of Porum, OK, will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday October 29, 2009 at Millsap Funeral Chapel in Webbers Falls with Reverend Wendell Cox, Reverend Randy Stevens, Reverend James Horton and Reverend Nolen Lake officiating. Pallbearers will be Pete Goodner, Roscoe Duke, David Dear, Michael Wiggins, Maverick Padgett and Dr. Bobby Berry. Honorary pallbearers will be Will Short, Hollis Weeks, Joshua Horton, Sonny Graham, Leroy Short and John Clawser. Burial will be in the Fields Cemetery under the direction of Millsap Funeral Service of Webbers Falls, OK.

Mrs. Girty was born August 2, 1955 at McAlester, OK, the daughter of J.T. and Mary Alice (Nolen) Smart and died Monday October 26, 2009 at her home.

Brenda graduated from Hartshorne High School and attended Eastern Oklahoma State College and East Central State College at Ada. She married Mitchell Girty on December 22, 1980 at McAlester. She had worked as a legal assistant for a law firm. Brenda was a member of Center Point Church. Her real love was spending time with her family, friends, her animals and the outdoors.

Survivors include her husband, Mitchell Girty of the home, her children, Todd and Sharma Lake of McCurtain, Nolen and Jennifer Lake of McAlester, Misty Marie Girty-Morris and Brent Morris of Porum, Mitchell Aren Girty, Jr. and Jessica Haltom of Porum, Harley John Girty of Porum, her mother, Mary Alice (Nolen) Smart of McAlester, brother, David and Paula Smart of Richville, OK, five grandchildren, A.J., Anika, Brooke, Evan and Ethan and special friends, James and Annie Horton and Sonny and Betty Graham and a host of other friends.
