Quincyetta Love
1940 - 2009

On the 29th of June 1940, Quincyetta Johnson was born to Autherine Thompson in Muskogee.

Quincyetta attended Muskogee Public Schools and was a proud graduate of Manuel Training High School in 1958. Quincyetta was known by many as “Lucky” this name was given to her by her aunts after she and her mother nearly drowned in a lake. Quincyetta was a kind, generous and caring person her comforting words and honesty extended beyond Muskogee. No matter whom she met whether it was a patient at the hospital, friend or a stranger. She would always greet you with her lovely warm smile. That smile meant a lot to people that were needing comfort at a time of distress. Quincy was very knowledgeable about her profession, in her neighborhood friends and family would often call on her to educate them on their medicine or ask questions about their illness. Quincyetta accepted Christ at a very early age at Deans Chapel her families church and was also the churches nurse for several years.

After graduation Quincyetta attend Bacone College where she received her associated degree in Nursing and attending Connors State College to…receive her certificate to become a registered nurse. Quincyetta took her profession to heart. She worked at Waldorf Nursing Home as an LPN (License Practical Nurse). Quincyetta was a registered nurse working on the medical floor at Muskogee General Hospital before retiring after thirty years of services. Her dedication to the industry, and leadership inspired both friends and family to pursue a degree in nursing. “Passion. Commitment. Loyalty.” All qualities embedded in Quincy until her death. After retirement Quincyetta worked for Muskogee Public School and illness forced Quincyetta to retired a second time from Healthcare Innovation.

On Thursday evening, October 29, 2009, Quincyetta “Lucky”, went into the peaceful slumber of eternal rest. She now joins her mother, Autherine Thompson, grandparents Clifford Thompson and Elizabeth all whom preceded her in death.

Quincyetta is survived by her husband Ivalee Love. True love was exemplified for their fifty plus years of togetherness. Devine love was extended through both of them.
