David Lorent DeVault

1936 – 2013

— David Lorent DeVault of Okay, Oklahoma passed away June 6, 2013 at Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center. He was born July 9, 1936 to Harry Vincent and Doris Emily (Webber) DeVault in Little Falls, West Virginia.

David completed his education before entering the U.S. Army and serving in the Korean War. During this time he was given the opportunity to train as an aircraft mechanic which became his vocation for life. He worked for Texas International Airlines, which later became Continental Airlines from where he retired.

He was active in the Veterans of Foreign War and the American Legion. Locally, he was a member of VFW Post 474 and American Legion Post 15. David was instrumental in forming the honor guard for the American Legion. He also served on the honor guard at many funerals.

David met his wife on the dance floor at the VFW and he married Dorothy Mae Fullerton on April 12, 1997. Together, they enjoyed traveling, their church, which included assisting in all the preparation and work for the annual garage sale. He also enjoyed his motorcycle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Doris M. Smoch. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mae Fullerton DeVault; daughter, Susan DeVault and son Robert DeVault both of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Celia B. Kolacek of Titusville, Pennsylvania, Mary Buckley of Crossville, Tennessee and Shirley A. Beaussire of Highland Havan, Texas; two brothers, Joseph W. DeVault of Carlton, Pennsylvania and James W. DeVault of Vogalusa, Louisiana.

Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Thomas W. Corrigan officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
