Perry Owen

1928-2013

— Perry Owen, 85, longtime Muskogee resident, died Thursday April 18, 2013. Perry was born on February 4, 1928 in Gore, OK to his mother Mary (Owen) Pitman. He grew up in Gore where he attended school, later the family moved to California and he began working. Perry joined the Navy and served his country in the US Navy from 1946-1948. After his honorable discharge Perry moved to Muskogee. He and Delores Carter were married on October 15, 1955 and had recently celebrated 57 years of marriage. Perry worked for Fullerton Electric and Southern Electric before retiring after many years at O.G. & E.

Perry was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Pitman, step father, Wiley Pitman and his daughter, Susan Hensley.

He is survived by his wife, Delores of the home; son in law, Gary Hensley; granddaughter, Cally Ann Miller and her husband, Christopher Lynn Miller; granddaughter, Courtny Hensley; grandson, Collin Hensley; five great grandchildren; brother in-law, Alan Carter, and brother in-law, David Carter and his wife, Mary Jane.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at New Hope Baptist Church with Reverend Steven Alexander officiating. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum.
