Hiram H. Davis

1932 -2012

— Hiram H. Davis of Belleville, Illinois died October 5 2012 with his family by his side, in Belleville. He was born January 29 1932 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to John W. and Crimcy Davis.

He married his high school sweetheart who was the love of his life, Peggy L. Dodson, on March 19 1953 in Muskogee. Hiram served in the United States Air Force for 25 years. He then worked Civil Service at K.I. Sawyer AFB in Michigan, eventually retiring in North Augusta, South Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Crimcy Davis; his brothers, Carl, Earl, Bearl, Grover, and John Davis and his sisters, Gertrude Prescott, Lola Cartwright, Ella Ragsdale and Oleta Wilson.

He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Peggy Davis (Dodson); his son, Ben (Susan) Davis, of South Carolina; his daughter, Kim (Chet) Shelton, of Illinois and five grandchildren, Benjamin (Crissy) Shelton, Shannon Davis, Breanna (Jason) Sasak, Amanda Davis and Katy Davis. He is also survived by two great- grandchildren, Ryder Shelton and Vivian Sasak.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2012 at Fosters’ Ivory Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery.
