Helen May (Taylor) Fullbright


Helen was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on February 11, 1920 to John Clyde Taylor and Norma Luella Perkins Taylor.  She graduated from Sapulpa High School with the class of 1938.  Helen continued living in Sapulpa, after her family moved away, until 1960; being employed as Secretary for The Pure Oil Company for 23 years, working in field offices in Kiefer, OK and Tulsa Oklahoma and later transferring to Oklahoma City.  Helen continued her education at The Tulsa Oklahoma School of Law and Accountancy and also graduated from Draughns Business Machines; she also attended Oklahoma City University for two years and took extension courses from Tulsa University and Oklahoma University.

Helen was always involved with the Presbyterian Church; being baptized as an infant and later working with the youth groups as Teacher, Youth Treasurer, assisting the Clerk of Session, The Women's Association, and helping with dinners and church activities in Sapulpa.  She was active with the USO during World War II and was also an active member in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, The Business Women's Association, DAR in Sapulpa and Muskogee, Oklahoma, and also The Pilot Club in Muskogee.  She was also active in Bethany Presbyterian Church in Muskogee where she served as Clerk of Session, Elder, Office worker, and a member of the Choir as well as serving with the MCM Meals on Wheels program.

Moving to Oklahoma City in 1960, she met and married Telford B. Fullbright in 1964 and moved to Muskogee, OK, where she continued working at MRMC Insurance Dept., the Social Security Office and Griffith Food Co. as receptionist. Then she retired from work.

Helen always lived inspired by the presence of God in her life and work, for which she gives thanks. The value of friendships through the years has always been an inspiration and helped shape her values and life. She always enjoyed cooking and sharing, playing the piano, bowling, and traveling to Alaska, Hawaii and The Holy Lands.

She was proceeded in death by her Grandparents: Wm. and Sarah Taylor, and George and Ida Perkins; Parents: John Clyde and Norma Luella Taylor; Brother: George W. Taylor; Husband: T.B. Fullbright; and Step Children: Harvey Fullbright and Janice Fullbright Parker.  She is survived by special friends: Alexis Nelson and Robbie Collard; as well as many other close friends. Helen will be greatly missed for her friendship, determinate spirit and sense of humor.

Memorial Services are to be at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Muskogee, OK, on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
