Virginia Della Black

1935 -2013

Virginia Della Black, 78, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013.  She was born June 5, 1935 in Holliday, Texas to Albert Fischer, Jr. and Della Trojcak Fischer.  Virginia graduated from Central High School with the class of 1953.  She also graduated from Draughons Business College in Little Rock, Arkansas.    

Virginia married Dr. Owen Black, Jr. on December 27, 1956.  Their adventures took them to Augusta, GA where Virginia worked at J. B. White's Department Store as a model and sales associate.  She was also a dancer with the Arthur Murray Dancers.  She loved going to the beach with her family.  Her greatest passion was being a homemaker and a mother.  Her hobbies included painting, knitting, gardening, and bird watching.  

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas Black of Augusta, GA, Bill Black and wife, Sharon of Buford, GA, John Black and wife, Karen of Ball Ground, GA; her grandson, Chris Black of Buford, GA; her brother, Edwin Fischer of Muskogee, OK; her sister-in-law, Jean Anthis of Muskogee, OK; other family members and friends.

Funeral services for Virginia will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Jardine of St. Paul United Methodist Church officiating.  The family will receive friends before the service from 10 to 11 a.m.  Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson.  Pallbearers will be Stan Anthis, Kevin Anthis and Chris Black.   Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home.  Condolences may be made to the family online at
