Allen L. King, CDR, USNR (RET)


Allen "Guy" King, age 80, died on December 29, 2013. He was born on Feb. 18, 1933, to Orville Taylor King and Etta Mae Alston King. Allen retired as a commander from the US Naval Reserve and from San Diego School District as a high school math teacher. The military took Allen to France, Japan, Vietnam, Hawaii, and California. After retirement he moved back to Oklahoma City where he served in the Civil Air Patrol and as president of the local chapter of Military Officers Association of America. Allen is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Cooper King; a daughter, Jennifer King Harvey and husband Steve Harvey, two grandchildren Christopher Harvey and Laura Harvey; his sister, Betty King Taylor; a nephew, Mark Allen Kymes, his wife Martha and their three sons; a niece, Desiree Rinker; and cousin Martin Day and wife Joyce. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 on Friday, Jan. 10, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City. A memorial service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Epworth Villa Benevolent Fund, 14901 N. Penn, 73134, or the Alzheimer's Association. Online condolences at
