Ron (Slim) Eck


Ron (Slim) Eck, 75, a long time resident of Muskogee County, passed away Saturday morning, January 4, 2014, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Gonvick, Minnesota, to Walter and Evangeline (Klema) Eck on July 30, 1938.  Ron grew up in Gonvick, Minnesota, and he came to learn that he loved the farm and ranching life style. Later on in life, he started his ranching career. He finally found the one that gave him the most joy, Synar Ranch and Cattle Company in Muskogee, where he worked until his retirement in 2003.

On August 13, 1973, Ron married the love of his life, Montie Bryant in Fargo, ND. They celebrated over 40 years of marriage together.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and several other family members.

He is survived by his wife, Montie, of the home; his daughter, Susan Stewart and husband, John of Muskogee, his daughter, Peggy Lamb and husband, Dale of Stilwell; his son, Mitch Sovia and wife, Michelle of Cushing, his son, David Sovia of Muskogee; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 1:30 p.m., at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Preacher Tom Gragg officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Josh Stewart, John Stewart, Josh Sovia, David Sovia, Dale Lamb Jr., Jay Littlejohn, and Justin Nelson serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Mitch Sovia, Dale Lamb Sr., and Ray Stewart.
