Marjorie Taylor Patterson

1918 – 2013

Marjorie Taylor Patterson, 95, died Saturday, December 28, 2013 at her home in Muskogee. She was born September 11, 1918 in Marceline, Missouri to Jean Phillips Taylor and Maude Vivian (Haley) Taylor. Marjorie grew up in Marceline where she attended school and graduated from Marceline High School in 1936. She continued her education at Blackwood-Davis Business College in Oklahoma City. During World War II, she worked for the U.S. Army Air Corps in Kansas City, Kansas. Marjorie married Harold B. Patterson on April 17, 1949 at her parent’s home in Marceline, Missouri. She worked 43 plus years for Commercial Credit Corp. in Oklahoma City, Kansas City, Missouri, and Muskogee in an accounting position.

She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Muskogee where she worked with the Women’s Association and other organizations of the church. Also, she was a member of the Soroptimist International Club of Muskogee.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorthea Jean Taylor and cousin, Barbara McAllister Richardson.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Harold Patterson of Muskogee; four special cousins, Christine Taylor Ankeney and her husband, David of Marceline, MO, Mary Betty Taylor Baxter of Oklahoma City, Donald Gene Taylor and his wife, Trish, of Mt. Juliet, TN, and Linda A. Taylor of Kailua, HI; two godchildren, Megan and Matthew E. Brown of Broken Arrow, OK and extended family and many friends.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ann Brizendine officiating.
